Kapil Sharma (born April 2, 1981) is an Indian stand-up comedian, television presenter, actor, and producer. He is best known for hosting The Kapil Sharma Show, one of the most popular comedy talk shows in India.

Early Life

Kapil Sharma was born in Amritsar, Punjab, to Jeetendra Kumar Punj, a head constable in Punjab Police, and Janak Rani. He completed his education from Shivalik Public School and went on to study at Hindu College, Amritsar.

Career

Comedy Circuit

Sharma gained national fame after winning The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2007. He subsequently appeared on various comedy shows including Comedy Circus (2010–2011), where he won several seasons.

The Kapil Sharma Show

In 2016, he launched The Kapil Sharma Show on Sony TV, which became one of the highest-rated comedy shows in Indian television history. The show features celebrity interviews combined with comedy sketches.

Acting Career

Sharma made his Bollywood debut with Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon (2015). He later appeared in Firangi (2017) and Zwigato (2023), which received critical acclaim.
